The Most Sincere Pumpkin Patch

On October 21st, Saint Richard’s Episcopal Church held it’s 20th Annual Great Pumpkin Festival for the community to celebrate fall in style.

Thankfully we finally had a beautiful, sunny day, and the weather was amazing.

There were food trucks, live music, face painting, clowns making balloon animals, bouncy houses…

…and of course, pumpkins.

Lots and lots of pumpkins.

If you missed the festival, the pumpkin patch will be open til October 31st. You can still go walk through a lovely little pumpkin patch and pick out the best pumpkins for your punkins!

Saint Richard’s Pumpkin Patch is located at 1420 E. Palm Valley Blvd., Round Rock, TX 78664. The hours are Sunday – Friday, 12 pm-Dark & Saturday, 9 am-Dark. It’s a lot of fun!

And if you’re interested in your own little local pumpkin patch, call me. I’d love to help set down roots!

Let’s Taco Bout It

Downtown Round Rock just got a lot more saucy. Nixtamal Tacos and Drinks, a taco shop unlike anything you’ve seen, has come to town, and we are so happy they did!

It is a casual dining place, but so impressive! You could really make this a date night destination.

Everywhere you look, there is attention to detail. From the whimsical ceiling displays…

to the vintage lighting…

to the dining area inside the old vault.

Yes, you read that right. They have a darkened dining area inside the old bank vault!

And they have tacos. Lots and lots of tacos. They make the tortillas fresh, so you know it’s gonna be good!

Try the salsa tasting tray if you’re feeling brave.

They also have sides, like this decadent dirty rice.

And a full bar for the days when you want more that extra something.

The staff is incredibly welcoming, and they really are pleased to help you. The atmosphere is bright, airy, quirky, and just a great place to linger over those chips and salsa a bit longer. Nixtamal Tacos and Drinks is truly inspirational.

Nixtamal is located at 118 East Main St in downtown Round Rock.

More Sushi Please!

Finding a great sushi place is not easy. Finding a real Japanese restaurant with great sushi is even more difficult. But today I found that place!

Misu Sushi, on Austin Ave just north of the square, offers a wonderful selection of Asian cuisine. They have delicious sushi, bento boxes for both lunch and dinner, Chinese dishes, children’s menu, dessert, and even a limited bar (wine, beer, sake).

And don’t get me started on these crab puffs! Yum!

The dining room is simple, yet elegant. The artwork on the walls is soothing, and it’s a pretty relaxed place.

The staff is very friendly, and quick to help with any questions or needs. (You will have to ask for a fork if you aren’t comfortable with chopsticks.) And the food is tremendous! You get a lot for your money, too. Bring an appetite, because you’re going to need it!

Misu Sushi is easy to find, though you’ve probably driven by it a hundred times without seeing it. You are going to want to change that. This is a wonderful place to meet friends, or bring business clients for a lunch meeting, or just a Friday night out with the family. They make you feel so welcome, you will want to come back again and again.

And if you want to make this a place to bring your family, please call me for all your relocation needs. I would love to help you make this great place your regular hangout.

Misu Sushi is located at 600 N Austin Ave Ste 101 in Georgetown.

On Top of the World

We may not live in a huge metropolitan city, but we know how to live like we do! Downtown Round Rock has a rooftop lounge with views of the Texas sky that go on forever.

And if you stay for the sunset, you are in for a stunning treat.

The Rooftop at Urban offers craft beer, varieties of wine, and a selection of specialty drinks with some very entertaining names.

You can also order simple Southwestern munchies like chips and salsa/queso/guac, and street tacos. Several nights a week you can enjoy live music on the roof. And with the cool fall breezes coming our way soon, this is definitely the place to be. It’s relaxing, breathtaking, and absolutely a place you will want to return.

The Rooftop at Urban is located at 411 W. Main Street Round Rock, Texas 78664

Setting Down Roots

You know when you were little, and you would be shuttled by car to Grandma’s house? And you would pass through these tiny little towns on all those quiet, windy roads? Did you have that one diner in one of those small towns you always stopped in for a bite and a few precious minutes out of the car?

If so, I bet you remember it with a certain fondness. You may not remember the food, or the service, but that it was fun, rustic, the floors always creaked, and it felt…right. It meant you were partly to your destination. It revived you a bit. And maybe you do remember the food, and it was amazing!

Roots Bistro is the kind of small town quirky joint you remember fondly years later and speak of with misty eyed nostalgia. This town favorite has stood watch over the square for a while. Part pizza joint, part live music venue, this is the post baseball/soccer game destination as well as an evening craft beer hangout.

It’s very laid back. You seat yourself, order at the bar, and you may wait a little longer. But when they bring you that crispy pizza, or artisan sandwich, it’s all been worth it.

In cooler weather, and nicer summer evenings, enjoy the outdoor patio!

Roots Bistro is a really lovely place to spend some time catching up and enjoying food prepared fresh and with care.

Roots is located at 118 W 8th St #101, Georgetown, TX

And if you are looking to set down some roots here yourself, call me! I would love to help you find just the right place!

That’s Amore

If you like Italian food in rustic elegance, you’re going to love Palermo Pasta House in downtown Round Rock.

and the caprese salad begs to be shared.

It’s a quiet, comfy place that feeds your body, and your soul, and perfect for a date night that will leave you feeling like you jet-setted to Tuscany.

Palermo Pasta House is located at 112 E Main St, Round Rock, TX 78664

Another gem in a historic downtown setting is just one of the many reasons you may want to call Round Rock your home town. I would love to help you find your perfect villa. With pasta this good, you will never want to leave.

Farm Fresh In The ‘Burbs

It may look understated from the outside, but Greenhouse Craft Foods is ready to dazzle even the most picky eater. Fresh, farm to table food, with a healthy, comfort food menu, this local favorite is perfect for the hot summer ahead.

They offer sandwiches, salads, chef specials, and even a kid’s menu. All of it locally sourced around Texas. (Including some lovely local wines, and craft beers.)

Oh, and they serve breakfast and brunch, too!

With a stellar menu, delicious food, and ongoing fun events for us hungry patrons,  Greenhouse Craft Food is a must try if you haven’t already!
