Ichiro Asian Bistro & Wine Bar

Where can you go for a lovely dinner with friends?  One of our favorite restaurants is Ichiro Asian Bistro & Wine Bar.  According to the website, the Georgetown restaurant is a family run business featuring classic Asian dishes and modern fusion flavors.

The restaurant design provides a warm, elegant ambiance. Our service for a table of four was exemplary—and so was the food!

SEA BASS
DRAGON ROYALE

Check the website for live jazz music…great for listening, but more challenging if you wish to chat with your friends.  Reservations are encouraged.

This is definitely a restaurant you will want to try–again and again!

Tony and Luigi’s

Tony and Luigi’s Restaurante

For a delightful culinary experience, Tony and Luigi’s Italian Mediterranean Restaurante in Georgetown, Texas, is a great choice.  Tony and Luigi’s opened in 2008 and features traditional classic favorites and original new dishes.

We needed a nice restaurant for a birthday dinner, and this was a great choice! The service was friendly and fast…and the food= divine.  The homemade rolls come out piping hot, and of course, you can’t eat just one.  No way!

Impossible to Eat Just One!

Our dinner fare included the following:

  • Chicken Parmesan
  • Spinach Salad
  • Cesar Salad
  • Wine.

It was absolutely delicious–no doggie bag necessary.🐕

Chicken Parmesan

Moscato for the win!

The server brought out the dessert cart, but we were waaaaay to full (Did I mention the rolls?).  Fun to look!

Tony and Luigi’s A Frank Sinatra Tribute entertains Thursdays from 6:00-9:00 PM (reservations recommended). The website notes Dine-in, Curbside, and Delivery options.  Be sure to call or check the website for possible changes: http://tonyandluigistx.com

If there are any negatives, it might be that the acoustics are not great, so it might be a little loud…a booth is best.

I would highly recommend Tony and Luigi’s. We’ve been going there for years, and it never disappoints.

2020 Market Scratch Kitchen

When you need a great, airy, slightly quirky brunch or lunch place, 2020 Market Scratch Kitchen is here for you! This open, bright restaurant has a farm style feel, and a menu that will keep you coming back for more, just so you can try everything!

Even if your appetite is small, there’s a large number of options! We swung by for a quick bite, and even the appetizers are worthy of meal status.

There are even great options for non meat eaters, too!

Their food is locally sourced, from farmer’s markets, to Gulf coast fishing boats. So you can feel good about eating their extremely delicious fare. They also have quite a lovely selection of wine, because sometimes brunch just calls for a chilled Sauv Blanc, right? And since they offer brunch (on weekends), lunch, and dinner, there are plenty of opportunities to explore.

Located in The Summit at Rivery Park in Georgetown, 2020 Market Scratch Kitchen is sure to become your local favorite, as it has mine.

Milano Trattoria Georgetown

Elegant Italian dining with a casual vibe. That’s what you’ll find at Milano Trattoria in Georgetown. It’s a vibrant atmosphere with a hint of sophistication with non of the pretention. And the food…oh the food!

The dishes taste so fresh and hearty, and look exquisite! Even down to the fresh baked rolls, you’re likely to exhaust all five senses through your visit.

And the dessert menu takes a lovely meal to a whole new level! It was pretty hard to decide between the tiramisu or the cheesecake. Tiramisu ultimately won, and I regret nothing.

Milano is a long time favorite of mine. I love to visit any time of day, but especially on those casual date nights. It’s familiar, welcoming, and just so delicious!

So if you’re in Wolf Ranch, and find yourself hungry and craving Italian food, do yourself a huge favor and stop in. It’ll probably become a favorite for you, as well! Oh, and don’t forget to try their incredible espresso!

Milano Trattoria is located at 1015 W University Ave in Wolf Ranch, with a second location in Round Rock coming soon!

All Things Kids- Georgetown

You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy All Things Kids!

So much to see, but really…it’s all about that unicorn!
…oooh! And big ol’ firetrucks!

This iconic toy store on the square in Georgetown is such a fun place to explore! I really found myself looking through the eyes of a child while looking around for gifts for family members.

There are a lot of familiar toys, including iconic toys I played with as a child. And of course, some really cool new things.

Speaking of cool, none of the toys in this store need batteries! This is a store with kid powered toys only!

The best toys are powered by imagination, and these adorable trucks are here to prove that!
Yeah, I’m not gonna lie. I had to buy one for myself. I’m going to blame my assistant, though.

Remember the fun we had with Lincoln logs, and pick up sticks? And how legos are still a favorite (for kids and kids at heart!)? This toy store embraces toys that require imagination and don’t rely on flash. It’s so much fun to see kids getting excited over the charming toys they’ll likely remember fondly as adults.

And, of course, they offer a wonderful selection of books!

And if fun toys aren’t enough, then what about ice cream? Because what could make an awesome toy store MORE awesome? An ice cream parlor inside! They have a great variety of flavors, too!

If you need more convincing to check it out…giant lego pirate should just about do it.

I’d like to put something pirate worthy here, but just really can’t top that this is a giant Lego pirate. It’s cool enough on it’s own.

All Things Kids is located at 703 S. Main Street, Georgetown

Nancy’s Sky Garden

Few things are more satisfying to the hardcore bruncher’s soul than a sublime new dining option. Add a breathtaking outdoor dining area, and well….that’s just a little bit of heaven.

Nancy’s Sky Garden’s new location in Georgetown is just that, with spectacular food and tea to boot! The options are healthy, organic, and offer choices for both vegans and carnivores.

If you order hot tea (and I highly recommend this), it’s brought in a charming teapot with minimalist cups to better linger over and enjoy with friends. We requested the Chocolate Mint hot tea, and it was delicious! Balanced, not bitter…the mark of an excellent brew!

The carrot soup was warm and creamy, with just the right amount of flavor blending with the organic flavor of the soup. And it was the perfect size serving for a light brunch! The warm vegetables with noodles seasoned with delightful Asian flair would satisfy even the pickiest eater.

And the outdoor dining space, enclosed with old world style stone, was positively beautiful! It makes one feel as if dining al fresco at an old Italian estate, or a very luxe Napa Valley spa cafe.

The staff is very friendly, and welcomed us so warmly that we really felt like honored guests. And the interior is so light and breezy that you’re sure to leave worries at the door and truly enjoy this zen experience.

If you haven’t been to their new location, make plans to check it out! You’ll be so glad you did!

Small Town Perks

For some, coffee is a total spiritual experience. For others, a bracing necessity. No matter how you enjoy your cuppa, there is no better place to enjoy it than a local coffee shop with a good friend.

We may not have a NYC skyline with unlimited options, but we do have a very lovely and eclectic selection of local coffee shops that will soothe the soul and awaken the senses. Here is a small sample list to get you started.

In Round Rock we have Lamppost Coffee, a recently opened coffee spot that encourages a community atmosphere with game nights and a vibrant, urban interior. They have a great menu, and the friendly staff round out a genuinely welcoming experience.

A legend in downtown Round Rock, don’t miss the chance to spend some time lingering over your java at Star Coffee. It’s a lovely coffee shop in a breathtaking location. Getting a table inside or out, you are guaranteed a refreshing respite. People watch, work on your computer, or play one of a very interesting selection of board games. It’s absolutely a place to slow down and enjoy yourself.

In Georgetown, right on the square, we have Cianfrani. This is a real deal small town coffee shop with big heart. Always bustling day or night, they offer some of the tastiest coffee selections (and the incredibly strong “Cardiac Arrest” that will redefine “caffeine buzz” for you). In the cool evenings it is incredible to grab a little table outside and enjoy the view of the gorgeous courthouse and drink in a little big city at night vibe. Also they make incredible blueberry scones.

309 Coffee is a slightly off the beaten path charmer that is already a Georgetown favorite. It’s very farmhouse chic, with a touch of urban vibe, covered in the incredible scent of fresh brewed coffee and fresh baked muffins. Ample indoor and shaded outdoor seating creates this very cool boho feel that will keep you coming back just to feel refreshed. For the brave, ask for an extra shot in your dark roast. There’s no end to what you’ll get done that day.

And brand new to Wolf Ranch, there’s Just Love Coffee. They make a mean oat milk latte, and they are the nicest people! Plus, shopping and coffee really do mix well. And having a great option like Just Love in a great shopping area is pretty close to perfection!

We may be small town, but we drink our coffee like the big boys! And each local shop has it’s own unique feel. So really, who needs New York City when we’ve got everything we need right in one steaming cuppa.

Cave-ing In

It may be hot outside, but is there anything cooler than exploring a cave?!

Recently I went to Inner Space Cavern to check out The Adventure Tour, and what was so special about a dark hole in the ground. And honestly, I was floored! I mean floor to ceiling, there is no shortage of incredible things to see!

Why do I feel like the theme to Jurassic Park should be playing here?
This is how horror movies start, isn’t it? A little spooky with a lot of laughter? Yep…there’s probably cave dinosaurs in here.

This is goes from floor to ceiling. And you’re not allowed to touch ANYTHING in the cave of wonders. Ok, one thing. You can touch one thing. But that isn’t it.
Looks like a prehistoric underground village and I like it!

This formation is called The Ice Cream Parlor…guess why?
So many cool formations to see. Many of which have names, often related to food. I think the people naming them may have been hungry.

This spot is actually beneath I-35! You can hear the faint rumbling of the cars overhead if you listen closely. And that hole in the ceiling isn’t just there for decoration!

The history of this cavern alone is spectacular for even the seasoned spelunker. And the tour guides are anything but dry…unlike these caves. Dad jokes, and bad jokes abound, but still funny…and mixed in with some extremely informative facts and acts. No, really. At one point you get to experience complete darkness. It’s pretty incredible.

Sumo wrestler eating an ice cream cone, or just really cool rock? What’s with these names and ice cream? But I do see it!

And it’s quite safe. Specialists, we were told, inspect the integrity of the “rooms” on frequent basis, there are safety rails and traction rugs on the trickier paths. But be sure it is a safe tour for all ages and skills. There were several children in our group who handled the up and downhill spots even easier than us grown ups.

There is even time for a fairy tale. Yep….a fairly odd fairy tale, but a good one nonetheless.

What….they are cave drawings! Just not quite the same age as the rest of the cave.

All in all a really fun time! So if you are looking for a rock solid way to round out the summer and keep your cool, head up 35 (or down, depending on where you are) to get yourself a ticket and explore a real underground cave!

And for the especially brave, try the Hidden Passages tour. This tour explores a newly opened area and is only lit by flashlight. I think I’ll wait a while for this one. I saw “The Descent”. I know how that ends.

Inner Space Cavern is located at 4200 S. I-35 Frontage Rd. Georgetown, TX.

As always,

On Top of the World

We may not live in a huge metropolitan city, but we know how to live like we do! Downtown Round Rock has a rooftop lounge with views of the Texas sky that go on forever.

And if you stay for the sunset, you are in for a stunning treat.

The Rooftop at Urban offers craft beer, varieties of wine, and a selection of specialty drinks with some very entertaining names.

You can also order simple Southwestern munchies like chips and salsa/queso/guac, and street tacos. Several nights a week you can enjoy live music on the roof. And with the cool fall breezes coming our way soon, this is definitely the place to be. It’s relaxing, breathtaking, and absolutely a place you will want to return.

The Rooftop at Urban is located at 411 W. Main Street Round Rock, Texas 78664
